Get Fruity on Fruity Friday for a Healthier Workplace!

Scientific research points us to the fact that the type of foods we eat plays a key role in reducing – or increasing - our risk of developing cancer. By making simple lifestyle changes such as eating more plant-based foods, increasing consumption of fruit and vegetables, taking regular exercise, and keeping control of our body weight, we can reduce our risk of cancer by up to one third!

Now in its 7th year, Fruity Friday is a popular annual fundraising campaign staged by WCRF HK to promote the importance of a healthy diet - and in particular, the consumption of fruits – to maintain all round good health for protection against many common cancers. Funds raised will help support the vital research and education programmes by WCRF HK into cancer prevention.

A special focus of Fruity Friday is on corporate employees and their health in the workplace. Following the recommendations set out in the WCRF/AICR Policy Report: Policy and Action for Cancer Prevention, employers are encouraged to take the lead in facilitating a healthy workplace for staff for all-round good health as well as enhanced staff loyalty and increased productivity.

As such, corporations around Hong Kong are now invited to join Fruity Friday by buying employees a healthy breakfast/lunch/fruity snack or organising a fruity tea party on 24 June (Friday) as a first step to show that they care about their staff’s health in the workplace.

Fruity Friday is one of the health-promoting and fundraising activities during WCRF HK's Cancer Prevention Week (24 to 30 June 2011), which also covers the energizing Move More Day taking place on 30 June (Thursday).

All participants of Fruity Friday and Move More Day will receive an exclusive Cancer Risk Meter to learn more about how various lifestyle factors are linked to lower cancer risk, and have a chance to win a 12-month salad treat from Just Salad with a min. donation of just HK$30. The first 1,000 individuals to sign up will also receive a Loyalty Discount Card valued at HK$200 from Just Salad. Other incentives include WCRF HK's latest 5-A-Day Cookbook, complimentary health talks by WCRF HK’s registered dietitian, free dance classes sponsored by Creation Dancing Academy, corporate web page, and much more! See more details on What You Will Get .

Enrollment is simple and easy. Find out more or download an enrollment form now.

Consider making 30 June a Move More Day in your company too to get everyone motivated and more physically active in the office!

As a real treat, why not consider buying a table of 12 at thePresident Cup & 26th Creation Cup Asian Open Dance Championships 2011 and ‘Colours of Hope Research Fund’ Fundraising Gala organized by the Creation Dancing Academy on 18 June with the net proceeds of the event donated to WCRF HK's Colours of Hope Research Fund to enable more research on cancer prevention. You can enjoy some world-class dance competitions and performances with your staff, guests and business partners, whilst helping to contribute to a future without cancer at the same time.
