Move More on Move More Day for a Healthier Workplace!

Studies showed that nearly 40% of adults in Hong Kong are overweight, whilst only 17% of them are engaged in the recommended amount of physical activity on a daily basis. Research funded by the WCRF global network shows that the amount of physical activity we do each day is linked to our chances of developing many serious diseases including cancer. With most of our jobs becoming more and more sedentary in nature, the working population may be subject to a higher cancer risk. The good news is, by simply moving more, we can lower our chances of developing cancer.

To help employers motivate their staff to move more in the workplace, WCRF HK is holding its Move More Day on 30 June (Thursday) for corporations to encourage physical activities among their employees in the office for better workplace health.

Participating corporations can choose from an array of of activity ideas ranging from hosting a "dress down” or “sportswear” day to enable staff to move more on the day, to organising a walking group for staff after lunch and so on for staff to stay energized and experience the fun and benefits of a more active working day with colleagues in the workplace. See more activity ideas to host your very own Move More Day for your staff on 30 June!

Move More Day is one of the health-promoting and fundraising activities during WCRF HK's Cancer Prevention Week (24 to 30 June 2011), which also covers the popular Fruity Friday that promotes a healthy eating habit amongst staff in the workplace on 24 June (Friday).

All participants of Move More Day and Fruity Friday will receive an exclusive Cancer Risk Meter to learn more about how various lifestyle factors are linked to lower cancer risk, and a chance to win a 12-month salad treat from Just Salad with a min. donation of just HK$30. The first 1,000 individuals to sign up will also receive a Loyalty Discount Card valued at HK$200 from Just Salad. Other incentives include WCRF HK's latest 5-A-Day Cookbook, complimentary health talks by WCRF HK’s registered dietitian, free dance classes sponsored by Creation Dancing Academy, corporate web page, and much more! See more details on What You Will Get.

Enrollment is simple and easy. Find out more or download an enrollment form for details.

Join our Fruity Friday too on 24 June to develop a “fruity” and healthy eating habit in your office!

As a real treat, why not consider buying a table of 12 at the President Cup & 26th Creation Cup Asian Open Dance Championships 2011 and ‘Colours of Hope Research Fund’ Fundraising Gala organized by the Creation Dancing Academy on 18 June with the net proceeds of the event donated to WCRF HK's Colours of Hope Research Fund to enable more research on cancer prevention. You can enjoy some world-class dance competitions and performances with your staff, guests and business partners, whilst helping to contribute to a future without cancer at the same time.
